Generell wäre sie gut, aber aus einem bisher noch unbekannten Grund gibt es Pferde die sie bzgl. der IR nicht vertragen.

There is an unknown compound in alfalfa that can cause footsoreness. Nobody has figured out exactly what it is, yet; nor has anyone come up with any way to determine whether a horse will react to the alfalfa with footsoreness (besides feeding it) For horses on very low protein hay, where it might be desirable to add alfalfa to increase the protein, one should feed a small amount and watch the horse like a hawk, checking for any sign of footsoreness.
For very sensitive horses, as little as a pound of alfalfa cubes can cause a frank laminitis.
Most of our IR horses are too fat anyway, so they really don't need alfalfa. There are better ways to increase protein in a diet.
